Specialized Programs

Over the past five years, National Deaf Academy has developed specialized clinical services for children, adolescents and adults with unusual symptoms that do not easily fit into traditional models of care.

Among the unique populations that we work with are:

  • Autistic children and adolescents (not necessarily Deaf, but able to benefit from a signing environment)
  • Deaf-blind children, adolescents and adults
  • Treatment-resistant behavior disorders
  • Multiple neurological disorders

The majority of these cases require a one-to-one staff member due to their complicated profile and intense needs. Specialized one-to-one therapeutic and educational programs are available for these unique individuals who generally have been unable to find appropriate services in other residential programs.
